Hindu doesn't necessarily mean no meat. There are loads of carnivorous Hindus. Jains are vegetarian and their regime excludes eggs and potatoes and onions, garlic, ginger, and at certain times of the year some leafy vegetables are also not permitted. Marwaris follow a similar regime. Many South Indians (particularly Brahmins) are vegetarian. But Hinduism does not mean vegetarian.

Not really. A lot of South Indian food is vegetarian, as is much Gujarati grub.
There are many different and distinct cuisines in India, from fish and mustard in Bengal to dosas, idlis and veg thalis in the south, to a more meat and wheat style in the north west. In some parts of the north-east (e.g. Nagaland), some people eat dog meat.
Chicken tikka masala is now found on many menus in India.

When I lived in Balham and later Clapham, and studied at Chelsea College (RIP), I think Putney was the best place to get Fullers. Used to drink in the Jolly Gardeners when I fancied a pint of it.
Don't know if it's still there;
Don't know if it's still Fullers;
Do know Fullers stopped doing Hock, which I rather liked.

You'd be banned from Twatter for this sort of promotional shit. Oh wait, Mo's West Ham.....it's our duty to dine with him.

Ta, Bungo.
Unfortunately, it's about 25 years since I last went to Putney.
I've a cunning plan, though.
I'll tell a mate who lives a bit closer about it, and if he gets hooked, then he'll continually remind me about it until I'm in West London and I can make a special trip.

Proper Indian food is almost all vegetarian.
Green St and East Ham are full of proper Indian places, run by Indians serving Indian food.
None of this chicken tikka bollocks invented by Kashmiris in Birmingham to cater to pissed English people.
Pakistani food is nice in its own right though.

Hey geep.
Don't know how accessible this one is for you (it's in Putney), but has a VERY good reputation round these parts.
Know the owner (our kids went to school together) and she's sound.

I like Goan food - the Christian(-heritage) restaurants do a marvelous pork vindaloo.
Unfortunately, the only one I knew about closed decades ago.
Came across another one, but it was Muslim.
If I want pork curry, I have to cook it myself.

The Hemalaya in the Grove, Stratford used to be very good years ago. Just along from the Cart and Horses.
It's still there but don't know what it's like now as I haven't been there for about 10 years or so.

Majority of 'indian' restaurants are run by Bangladeshis and Pakistanis, both countries being part of India obviously until partition, and are muslim, obvs. Indian food is just the generic term.
Brick lane etc are all paki/Bangla
